Sunwise insider tip

Discover the fascinating mangrove forests at Lac Bay, one of Bonaire's most remarkable ecosystems. These green oases function as natural coastal guards – their roots dampen waves, hold sediment, and literally build new land. Even more important is their role as the ocean's nursery, where young fish, turtles, and other marine life find protection before braving the open sea. Walk along the boardwalks through this labyrinth of roots and leaves, and spot colorful birds, crabs, and perhaps even a manatee. The mangrove forests are not only ecologically valuable but also a serene place to experience the power of nature.

Just so you know

  • No dryer – there's no dryer available, but thanks to sun and wind your laundry is bone dry within hours on Bonaire
  • No pool – the complex doesn't have a pool, but the beautiful Caribbean Sea is just 15 meters away
  • Stairs – the apartment is on the second floor and accessible via stairs, which is less suitable for guests with mobility issues

The neighborhood

Residential strip north of Kralendijk, from Harbour Village towards Sabadeco. Close to various beach clubs and dive resorts and the northern shore diving sites, with restaurants and shops within a short drive. Hato combines convenience and tranquility: pleasant for families and water sports enthusiasts who want to get out quickly but prefer to stay in a quiet neighborhood in the evenings.

Getting around

A rental car is a must on Bonaire to explore the island beyond the immediate surroundings of Den Laman Wahoo in Hato. With your own car, all corners of the island are accessible at your own pace, from secluded snorkeling spots to local restaurants. We recommend everyone to rent a car, as you'll then be able to get everywhere. Most roads on Bonaire are paved, but for natural areas like Washington Slagbaai National Park, a pickup truck or SUV is recommended. The roads in the park are unpaved and sometimes rough, making a regular car unsuitable. There is no public transportation and the number of taxis is limited, especially on busy days when a cruise ship is docked, for example.

DenLaman Wahoo fantastic!

We have stayed in many different rooms at DenLaman. Wahoo did not disappoint. The porch was private even though it overlooked the park with a constant lovely breeze. It was comfortable to sit out at all hours of the day (some of the ocean front room are just too hot in the afternoon to sit out and you need to wait for the sun to set). The location next to the park was in no way a problem - staff is onsite at the park that is very clean and quiet. The unit is spacious and was perfect for 2 couples travelling together with large bedrooms that each included a private bathroom. We have booked Wahoo again next year and can’t wait to return. Great service, loud neighbors at Den Laman Wahoo room

Sunwise ensured we had everything we needed & were very responsive to any questions we had. Apartment was well equipped & comfortable. No complaints about Sunwise or house, just want to make others aware that restaurant next door can get loud until midnight some evenings. Read more

Effortless Simplicity

Recently stayed at the Den Laman Condos which I booked through Sunwise Bonaire, and I would highly recommend to anyone. Sunwise Bonaire was absolutely a pleasure to work with. They made the entire process effortless and very simple. This was the second year we used Sunwise, and the same staff person came to meet us at the condos, welcome us, and do a walk through. It was great to see the same people working for the property management company, and shows that they must take care of their people, which came across to us. Had some light bulbs burn out during our stay, called to Sunwise and later that day they were fixed, so very responsive which is not typical on a laid back island. Again, I would highly recommend anyone coming to Bonaire to book with Sunwise at any of their properties. Read more

Great Sunwise staff, very friendly

The location was perfect for my family and I. Great Sunwise staff, very friendly. Spacious, clean room.

Easy diving off the private dock at one of the best reef's on the island. Easy access to town for groceries and restaurants. Located on the main road to the dive sites on the North & South ends of the island, with daily boat dives available right from the private dock if desired.
