Sunwise insider tip

Just so you know

  • No dryer – There is no tumble dryer, but on Bonaire your laundry usually dries quickly in the sun and breeze.
  • No BBQ – There is no barbecue at the apartment, but along the coast you’ll find several relaxed eateries for an easygoing dinner.
  • No A/C in the living room – The living room doesn’t have air conditioning, but the cool bedrooms ensure a good night’s sleep after warm island days.

The neighborhood

South of the center and heading toward the salt pans, this is one of Bonaire’s best-known residential and vacation areas, traditionally linked to Harry Belafonte. Belnem has grown into an umbrella name for upscale sub-neighborhoods such as La Palma, Sabal Palm, Lima, Punt Vierkant and Playa Esmeralda. Here you are close to popular south coast beaches (like Bachelor’s Beach) and iconic dive sites – ideal for sunsets and relaxed beach life. It’s a quiet residential area with quick routes to the airport and downtown Kralendijk.

Getting around

WS Manta Ray in Belnem is best enjoyed with a rental car, as Bonaire has so much more to offer beyond the immediate surroundings. With your own car you can explore every corner of the island at your own pace, from remote snorkel spots to local restaurants. We strongly recommend renting a car so you can get everywhere. Most roads on Bonaire are paved, but for nature areas such as Washington Slagbaai National Park a pickup truck or SUV is recommended, as the roads are unpaved and sometimes rough. There is no public transport and taxis are limited, especially on busy cruise ship days.

Good base with nice pool

Waiting for our house for several months we stayed in Windsock Manta Ray for the first 11 days with our 2 small children. A fine 1st floor apartment with good breeze on the balcony/terrace. Air conditioners in bedrooms worked well, kitchen well equipped, large fridge with some drinks as a welcome, cooler and beach chairs available. Anke & Mark were very involved and responded quickly in case of questions (such as request if we could use washing machine in another unit). Bathroom could get very hot and stuffy though due to no ventilation to the outside. Also, screen doors between living room and hall + balcony would be super, because mosquitoes are already waiting for you in the morning ;) Read more

Great base for diving

Beautiful apartment. Well located along through road, but was not disturbing. Great base for diving. Nice pool where we did not get to, by the way. For visiting Kralendijk you must have a car. Read more

What a lovely apartment is Manta Ray. A lovely kitchen, 2 bedrooms with private bathrooms and good air conditioning. Parking on private property, beach nearby, 5 min from the airport and the center of Kralendijk within 10 min. In addition, a friendly and adequate host. Super convenient to explore the island

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this Airbnb in Bonaire! This is our second year returning! The location couldn't have been better – right between Salt Pier and Kralendijk, making it super convenient to explore the island. The apartment itself was very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing vacation.
One of the highlights was definitely the restaurant across the street with its amazing swimming hole – perfect for a refreshing dip after a day of exploring. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Overall, this Airbnb contributed to an unforgettable vacation experience. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bonaire!

Fine stay

We had been here once 10 years ago. This time our niece went with us for the 1st week. Super that both bedrooms have private bathrooms. The basis of the apartment is and remains of course top. Balcony spacious, fine garden furniture not to mention the hammock! Spacious kitchen, the only thing we have done is boil an egg or fry but you can easily cook yourself everything is spacious. Bedrooms are also very spacious, plenty of storage space. 10 years ago we found it a big 10, now a little less. Clothes rack, trash in the toilet, rickety closet, many nails in the walls where nothing hangs. Did we enjoy our vacation less because of this .... certainly not! But because of this for now 4 stars. Tip, walk through the apartment with a critical eye, tackle things and it can quite simply be 5 stars again! Read more

Great service, very responsive

Great stay, beautiful wall painting in one of the bed rooms. In the middle has an open space with apartment downstairs, so can give some noise - but is OK on a whole (but good to know).
Great service, very responsive.
