Casa Papaya is a 100 m² villa located in the quiet Sur Salinja neighborhood. The property offers garden views and features a regular private pool. About 10 minutes' drive away lies 1000 Steps, one of Bonaire's most charming snorkel and dive spots. Despite the name, there are actually only 67 steps that take you down to this idyllic little beach. The location is particularly popular with snorkelers and divers because of the beautiful coral reef that's directly accessible from the shore. The crystal-clear water and abundance of tropical fish make this an unforgettable underwater experience. The compact beach offers shaded spots under the trees, perfect for resting between snorkel sessions.

- No supermarket in the immediate area – The nearest supermarket is 1.6 kilometers away, but with a rental car you'll be there in a few minutes and can stock up on groceries for several days
- Animal visitors – Occasionally curious birds, lizards, or a friendly goat might visit the garden, a true Bonairean experience that kids usually love
- No dryer – There's no dryer available, but thanks to Bonaire's constant sun and warm winds, your laundry will be bone dry on the line within hours

The neighborhood
Sur Salinja is a quiet residential neighborhood where you can experience the authentic Bonairean atmosphere. The area is characterized by local houses, friendly residents, and a relaxed ambiance that perfectly fits the island life. Here you live among the locals and experience the real Bonaire, while all important facilities and attractions remain easily accessible by rental car.
Getting around
A rental car is a must on Bonaire to explore the island beyond the immediate surroundings of Casa Papaya in Sur Salinja. With your own car, all corners of the island are reachable at your own pace, from remote snorkel spots to local restaurants. We recommend everyone rent a car, as it enables you to reach everywhere. Most roads on Bonaire are paved, but for nature areas like Washington Slagbaai National Park, a pickup truck or SUV is recommended. The roads in the park are unpaved and sometimes rough, making a regular car unsuitable. There is no public transportation and the number of taxis is limited, especially on busy days when a cruise ship is docked.

Casa Papaya – Perfect for us!
Retired couple on our 3rd trip to Bonaire and we found Casa Papaya to be perfect for us. First of all Simon and Cecile were excellent communicators both before we arrived and while we were on the island - fast responding, kind and thorough! For the house, it was in a very quiet neighbourhood. The small plunge pool was great for an afternoon cool down. Location was close to everything. Lots of space (inside and out), lots of towels, comfortable beds, full sized refrigerator with freezer, AC in every room that worked really well. (We only ran it at night and the house stayed cool the entire day). The rinse tank was great and access to a clothes washer was an added bonus. Our only "niggly" bit (minor complaint) was there were no oven safe dishes (casseroles or bake pans) to do a quick one dish meal in the oven. Other than that it was perfect! Casa Papaya – Kralendijk, Bonaire
The hosts are great! Quick to respond and very cooperative. The house was quite comfortable and equipped with many amenities. What could become a downside over time is the maintenance and condition of the furnishings. The location is peaceful and offers plenty of privacy. The small park also feels like a safe, enclosed environment. You can easily find the livelier areas — just a 20-minute walk takes you right to the heart of the action. Almost perfect
Great location — quiet neighborhood and easily accessible. Nice shower and comfortable bed. We missed having curtains for a bit more coziness and privacy. A few more than two small coffee cups would have been convenient. Appreciated the attentive email communication with Sunwise. Great Location in Quiet Neighborhood
We really enjoyed our time at the Casa Papaya. The home was perfect for us and the kiddos, the pool was fantastic and the AC worked great at night to cool the home quickly. A wonderful place to stay
What a wonderful place to stay on Bonaire. A private place with lots of privacy close to the center of Kralendijk. Everything was clean, lovely terrace and a swimming pool to cool off daily. Communication with owner went smoothly and smoothly.

Guest access
As a guest of Casa Papaya, you have access to the entire villa, including both bedrooms, the bathroom, the open kitchen and living room, plus all outdoor spaces such as the private garden, covered veranda, and terrace. The private pool is of course exclusively for you and your travel party, as well as the free parking space on the property. To warmly welcome our guests and provide explanation about the accommodation and our beautiful island, we handle all arrivals personally! The Sunwise hosts of the accommodation will make arrangements with you about your arrival.
Interaction with guests
The Sunwise team goes the extra mile to make your stay at Casa Papaya as enjoyable as possible. During your stay we are here to help with any questions. You can reach us most easily through the Guest App (the link is in your confirmation e-mail), by e-mail or WhatsApp of the Sunwise guest team for Casa Papaya, or through the messaging platform where you made your booking. We usually respond quickly, especially during the day, and will make sure your stay on Bonaire is unforgettable.
Other things to note
Check-in is from 3PM, check-out should be by 10AM. Early check-in or late check-out is possible upon request, depending on other guests.
