Dear Chris and Elyse, a big thank you to you and your team. You made our stay at JibeCity unforgettable. Whenever we had a question, it was taken care of immediately. The studio was amazing — especially for us as campers, it felt like camping 2.0. If you’re not a windsurfer, though, this probably isn’t the place for you. The location is sublime, a true paradise for windsurf addicts like us. We would love to come back again next year, because we’re certain you’ll provide us with another carefree holiday.

Shaka, good deal on the lagoon

We had a great stay — well equipped for cooking, and the air conditioning was much appreciated. You just need to be okay with the sound of the rooster in the morning. Quiet in the evenings. For the price, excellent. The owner was very quick to respond. Thank you. Read more

Great spot but…

For windsurfers it's the best spot but there are roosters running around the place. They start screaming around 4am. Very hard to go back to sleep Read more

Unfortunate

Unfortunately, dilapidated and both the Internet, coffee maker and kettle are defective, sink clogged, very noisy, from 6:30 to 12:00 the tractor drives the seaweed past the terrace and studio without a break, seaweed is unloaded in the parking lot near the studio and stinks, right next to the studio old bulky garbage is stored, the garbage garbage can behind the house smells extremely of rotting food, 3 roosters crow every minute from about 4.00 am, the kitchen smells (old cooking grease, charcoal...) from the beach bar are drawn exactly to the terrace..., hostess difficult to reach due to lack of internet connection and otherwise..., flexible check-out possible...,

Enjoyable stay at the Shaka Studio!

I recently enjoyed a 5-day stay at the Shaka Studio. Everything was as advertised and expected. The unit is quite spacious and the half-wall between the living/kitchen area and bed/bathroom offers a good division and a bit of privacy. The AC worked great. As mentioned, there is no hot water - but it's actually kind of refreshing and you get used it quickly. And if you shower during the day (when the pipes are heated from the sun), you don't even need it. Parking was really easy, unless it was the height of the afternoon and the beach was super packed. Kitchen could be better-appointed and -supplied, but for a short stay, it's adequate. The surrounding area of Sorobon and Lac Bay is cute, chill, relaxing. It's kind of far from everything though, so unless you're only here 1-2 days, you should rent a car. Several cute restaurants right on the premises or very close by. I liked that the Shaka Studio was at the far end of the row of 4 apartments, offering more privacy and it's own additional side patio/picnic area. The only downside (in a kind of hilarious way) was the gang of roosters that patrol the premises all day... I chose to stay here b/c this was an incognito working vacation for me and I had heard that it can get pretty noisy with crowds, motorbikes, etc. in town. These roosters definitely blew up my spot on several Zoom calls though :( They also start squawking and walking around on the rood around 4am, so just be mindful of that :) Read more

The hosts were super friendly and helpful

The place is creative and very lovingly decorated, so you feel right at home.
Everything was clean and also the linens were replaced 1 x per week.
The 2 air conditioners are great, so you can easily turn on the AC in the living area at night without having noise nuisance in your sleep and vice versa.
The appearance of small animals in this climate is probably not to be prevented.
Since we cooked a lot, small animals felt called, which was no problem.
The hosts were super friendly and helpful and we were allowed to stay a little longer on our checkout day as there were no guests coming on the same day. We thought that was extremely cool and made our last day with evening departure a relaxing day of vacation. Thanks for that!
The internet also works very reliably and stable, which is probably due to the fancy radio mast on the property.
