The iguana is common on Bonaire. See next a beautiful photo of a green iguana. Did you know these reptiles are also found on some menus?
Found throughout the island: the iguana.
The iguana is an unmistakable resident of Bonaire. The iguana can be found all over the island. They live in dry forest areas and in the mangroves along the coast. Their skin is covered with green/brown scales and a row of spines that run along the neck and back. The green/brown colors are good camouflage for the reptiles. The reptiles are herbivorous, with a diet consisting mainly of leaves, flowers and fruits. On Bonaire, there are some local dishes that have iguana as an ingredient. At Posada Para Mira in Rincon, for example, you can order iguana soup.

βBon dia tur hende i bon bini na dushi Boneiru!β
My name is Casper Douma and I am a photographer. Since 2014 I’ve been living on this beautiful island, surrounded by a fringing reef. At first glance, you may see mostly cacti and drought, but Bonaire is a little gem if you get to know it better. I would like to take you on one of my photography tours to show you all the special places of Bonaire. In small groups of maximum 4 people I give you a unique look at the beauty of Bonaire. Became curious? Take a look at my website! I wish you a lot of fun on beautiful Bonaire.β
