The Hilma Hooker was a cargo ship originally named Midsland. Later after it changed hands it was renamed Hilma Hooker. In 1951, the ship was built in the Netherlands. Finally, in 1984, the ship was sunk off the coast of Bonaire. The ship was seized by Bonaire authorities for suspected drug trafficking. It was found to be carrying a large amount of marijuana. Subsequently, the ship was seized. During the trial, the Hilma Hooker was anchored off the coast of Bonaire, but it began to take on water. It was feared that it would sink in the harbor. To prevent this, it was decided to tow the ship to a deeper location and sink it. Since then, it has become a popular dive site.
