These ‘corona rules’ should keep our guests safe

10 June 2020 by Sunwise Bonaire - Reading time: 2 minutes

Now that Bonaire is being opened up to tourists again, we hereby present the broad outline of the protocols that we have drawn up in recent months.

Now that Governor Rijna has announced that from July 1, 2020 on, tourists from Europe will be welcome on Bonaire again, it’s time to share the protocols that we have written in recent months to keep our guests, the parties we work with and the Sunwise teams, healthy and safe, with our guests.

We realize that as long as a working vaccine is not available to all people and until a medicine / treatment is found, it remains important to take the necessary measures together, to keep the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) from spreading and to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19, even though the emergency ordinance is currently suspended.

In general, the Sunwise team has made the following agreements with its partners like the cleaning, maintenance and laundry companies and we ask our guests to respect the special house and contact rules for the accommodations. We will send the detailed protocols to our guests immediately after they booked.

Agreements with our partners

We always encourage the partners we work with to:

  • To institute measures, only use accurate, reliable sources of information, including WHO, RIVM (the Dutch version of the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – CDC) and local authorities;
  • Ensure that they closely follow local regulations;
  • Just like Sunwise, have a proactive plan to minimize the risks.

We have made specific arrangements about the way of cleaning and disinfection of the accommodations and the treatment of (dirty and clean) laundry.

Protocols for maintenance companies have been prescribed by Sunwise, in order to protect guests and maintenance people as much as possible.

Agreements with our guests

Among other things, Sunwise encourages good hand hygiene for its guests and everyone involved in the accommodation. We provide adequate disinfectants at the entrance to the villa or apartment and request that all persons involved regularly wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

We try to keep physical interactions to an absolute minimum and we request that our guests follow a ‘one and a half meter ( 5 feet) distance policy’ during check-in and check-out, and during all subsequent interactions, as well as with the local community.

To protect the Sunwise teams

In addition to all the above measures, which must also protect our hostesses and hosts, our Sunwise colleagues also minimize contact during check-ins and check-outs and – after check-out – contact with garbage and used laundry, in order to reduce the risk and to minimize contamination.

As always, we keep clean linen strictly separated from used linen and we remove all used linen between reservations, as we always have.

As usual, we ensure that all waste in and around the house is removed before we start the cleaning and disinfection process.

Don’t hesitate to consult us!

If you have any questions about the above measures or if you would like to know all the details before booking, please contact us at info@sunwisebonaire.com.

    Both my wife and I are vaccinated. Do we need to show our vaccination card on entry to Bonaire?

    1. Hi Dennis, for now unfortunately there is no difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated guests, as far as the testing requirements are concerned. We did learn that this is being worked on though. Please keep an eye on our blog for updates.

  2. Cynthia Adcock says:

    Do you have to be tested in order to fly into Bonaire? What are the restrictions?

    1. Hi Cynthia, thanks for your response! Yes, currently all incoming travelers must be able to show a negative PCR test and a completed health certificate. You can check the up-to-date status on the website of the Public Entity Bonaire.

    1. Hello Martha,

      No, unfortunately no dates have been given on which the situation will be re-evaluated.

      As soon as we know more, we will update our messages!
