Bonaire scales back measures against ‘corona’
The risk level with regard to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, will be reduced from phase 5 to phase 4 on Bonaire.
The curfew and the alcohol ban will be lifted and all catering establishments and all stores will be allowed to open again.
Reduction of measures
Tomorrow, Friday April 23, the risk level with regard to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, will be reduced from phase 5 to phase 4 on Bonaire. This was announced this morning by the Island Governor, Mr. Edison Rijna.
What phase 4 exactly entails is clearly mapped out on the Bonairean government’s overview.
The curfew and the alcohol ban will be lifted and all catering establishments and all stores will be allowed to open again. Also, for example, barber shops, the gyms and casinos may reopen.
Of course, restrictions still remain in place, especially as long as not enough islanders have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Less pressure on health care
The number of infections has fallen sharply recently, reducing the pressure on care. The estimation is, especially also with the increase of the number of vaccinated people in the risk groups, that the pressure on the local hospital will decrease further, in the near future.
No events yet
Unfortunately, the various events that would normally be on the agenda for the coming week, such as King’s Day on April 27 and Dia di Rincon on April 30, still won’t be happening.
