Layout of the apartment
The bedroom is furnished with two box-spring beds and air conditioning for a wonderful night's sleep. The bathroom offers all the comforts for a relaxing start or end to the day. The open-plan kitchen is directly connected to the living area and is fully equipped with an induction hob, combination oven/microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, coffee maker, Nespresso machine, kettle, and toaster. From Port Bonaire Laguna Reef A101, you can easily walk to Te Amo Beach and Donkey Beach, two favorite spots for both locals and visitors. Te Amo Beach is known for its clear, calm waters, making it ideal for snorkeling among colorful reef fish in shallow coral gardens. Donkey Beach is right next to Te Amo and offers a relaxed coastal atmosphere. Bring your snorkel gear, find a quiet spot along the water's edge, and enjoy hours of marine life just offshore.
Just so you know
- Airport nearby. The small airport is across the street. Only a few planes land there per day. You'll hardly notice it. It's actually quite enjoyable, and it can save you two days of car rental because it's just a short walk away.
- No BBQ. Barbecuing isn't allowed in Port Bonaire, but it is on Te Amo Beach.
- No ceiling fans. The apartment doesn't have ceiling fans, but it does have air conditioning in the bedroom and living room. And if you open the screened door a little, a cooling breeze will blow through the living room and the porch. The apartment is ideally situated for the wind.
Where you'll stay
The neighborhood
Laguna Reef enjoys a great, central location. Dive Friends Port Bonaire is just 50 meters away, and Te Amo Beach or Donkey Beach are just a few minutes' walk away. Supermarkets and other amenities are a short drive away for daily groceries. Finally, the charming town center of Kralendijk, with its famous boulevard, shops, bars, and restaurants, is also a five-minute drive away. Here, you can enjoy a relaxing evening stroll along the seafront, overlooking the boats in the harbor. In short, Laguna Reef is ideally situated: beach, diving, and town center all close by.
Getting around
Port Bonaire Laguna Reef A101 in Kralendijk is best experienced with a rental car, because Bonaire has so much more to offer than just the immediate area surrounding the apartment. With your own car, you can drive at your own pace to secluded snorkeling spots, relaxing beaches, and local restaurants. A rental car is highly recommended so you can truly get everywhere. Most roads on Bonaire are paved, but for nature reserves like Washington Slagbaai National Park, a pickup truck or SUV is convenient. The roads there are unpaved and sometimes rough, making a regular car less suitable. There is no public transportation, and taxis are limited, especially on busy days when a cruise ship is moored. There is gated parking at the apartment.

Pretty apartment, sea view, noisy surroundings
Let’s start with the positive points: the team at Sunwise Bonaire is super friendly, fast, and professional. We were allowed to check in earlier and check out later. The apartment is newly renovated, very bright, and well designed for two people. The shower had great water pressure, the airport was hardly noticeable, and the terrace has a sea view. The complex itself is pleasant, with a nice pool and sun loungers. There were usually around 5–15 people staying there. There is direct access to the sea, and snorkeling is possible as well — not as good as at Andrea I or II, but still a nice overall experience. Our main issues were the large construction site next door. A house is being built, with drilling and hammering from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. This made it impossible to sit outside. In addition, there is a dive school next door that is also noisy and has its boat docked directly in front of the terrace. The staff often look straight into the living room, sometimes even in the evening around 10 p.m. We felt there was too little privacy, and the noise made the terrace almost unusable. Overall, it’s a good apartment, but next time we would choose a different one. For anyone who doesn’t mind a boat in front of the terrace, it could still be a good place to stay. Fantastic stay
From the very first minute, we felt at home in this beautifully renovated corner apartment, located directly on the ocean. It offers plenty of privacy, a shared pool, and a deck with a swim ladder for snorkeling — what more could you need? Air conditioning in both the bedroom and living room, a very spacious refrigerator, a lovely bathroom, and a new kitchen with induction cooking made us truly happy. Everything we needed was there, including a washing machine, which was a pleasant surprise. With hosts Johan and Nicole, we took a short tour, and on departure day we were able to stay all day without any issues until our flight. Peace and sea!

As a guest of Port Bonaire Laguna Reef A101, you have access to the entire apartment, including the bedroom, bathroom, living room, open-plan kitchen, and adjoining oceanfront terrace. You can also use the communal pool in the complex, and park for free in the enclosed parking lot next to the property. To ensure a warm welcome and to provide information about the property and our beautiful island, we personally handle all arrivals! The Sunwise hosts at the property will make arrangements for your arrival.
