Bon Bida Trupial is a 150 m² apartment on the second floor of the Bon Bida Apartments complex in the Hato neighborhood, just north of Kralendijk. The complex features a shared pool available to all guests. Zhung Kong supermarket is 850 meters away, Isidel Beach Park is 350 meters from the apartment, restaurant Rum Runners is a 600-meter trip, and Dive Friends Hamlet dive center is located 900 meters away.

Layout of the apartment

The apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The first bedroom features a comfortable king-size bed; the second bedroom is set up with two single beds. Connected to the bright living area is a fully equipped open kitchen, outfitted with a stovetop, oven, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, and ice maker. Outside, the balcony comes with outdoor furniture – a great spot to start the morning or wind down after a day of adventure.

If you're heading north, make sure to stop by Gotomeer. This expansive saltwater lake sits within Washington Slagbaai National Park and is the largest saltwater lagoon on Bonaire. It's widely regarded as one of the best spots on the island to observe Caribbean flamingos in the wild – they can often be seen foraging along the shallow shores. The area is beautifully quiet and offers a striking contrast to the island's active coastline. Combine your visit with a drive through the national park for an unforgettable day in nature.

Just so you know

• Unpaved road access – The approach to the complex runs partly along an unpaved road. No need for a 4×4 – just expect a little of that classic Bonaire off-road character on arrival and departure.
• No BBQ – Barbecuing on the premises isn't possible due to the setting. That said, there are public BBQ spots on the island, including Seru Largu, where you can grill with a sweeping view of the island.
• No A/C in the living area – The bedrooms are fully air-conditioned for a cool night's sleep. In the living room, ceiling fans and the option to open windows and doors provide a comfortable breeze throughout the day.

The neighborhood

Bon Bida Trupial is situated in Hato, the residential stretch north of Kralendijk running from Harbour Village toward Sabadeco. The neighborhood strikes a pleasant balance between convenience and calm: you're close to several beach clubs, dive resorts, and the northern shore dive sites, while restaurants and shops are just a short drive away. In the evenings, you return to a quiet residential area – ideal for families and water sports enthusiasts who want to get out quickly during the day but prefer a peaceful setting to come back to.

Getting around

To truly explore Bonaire beyond the immediate surroundings of Bon Bida Trupial in Hato, renting a car is highly recommended. With your own wheels, every corner of the island is within reach at your own pace – from secluded snorkel spots to local restaurants you'd otherwise never find. Bonaire has no public transportation and taxis are limited, especially on busy days when a cruise ship is docked. Most roads on the island are paved, but for a visit to Washington Slagbaai National Park, a pickup truck or solid SUV is strongly advised, as the unpaved park roads can be quite rough.

As a guest of Bon Bida Trupial, you have access to the entire apartment: both bedrooms, both bathrooms, the open living room and kitchen, the balcony with outdoor furniture, and the complimentary street parking directly outside. You'll also enjoy use of the shared pool at the Bon Bida Apartments complex. The private entrance gives you your own sense of space and independence. To welcome our guests properly and share all the ins and outs of the apartment and our beautiful island, all arrivals are handled in person! Check-in is available from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 10:00 AM. Early check-in or late check-out can be arranged on request, subject to availability around other guests' stays.
