Ministers Van Nieuwenhuizen (Infrastructure and Water Management) and De Jonge (Public Health, Welfare and Sport) have informed the House of Representatives of the extension of the flight bans to the BES islands (Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba), in connection with the corona virus.
The ban now applies until June 15, 2020 6 p. (local time). The BES Temporary Prohibition of Flying, with the extension until June 15, can be read in full here (in Dutch). The flying bans have been imposed because the Schengen entry ban does not apply to Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba.
RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) has indicated that this measure is of undiminished importance, in order to limit the import of the COVID-19 virus to the aforementioned public bodies. Based on this, the ministers have now decided to extend the applicable restrictions on passenger air traffic.
The list of countries to which the flight ban applies, is also included in the ‘Letter to the Parliament’ under the link above and has been updated based on the most recent overview of high-risk areas, which is maintained by the European Aviation Agency (EASA).
