Although mainly the young turtles can be seen on Bonaire, we sometimes see the adults between May and November, when it’s the nesting season for these animals. The green sea turtle is the largest of the three species on Bonaire and the largest specimens can weigh up to 230 kilos!

Seagrass at Lac Cai and the Salt Pier

Although we see adult sea turtles occasionally eating jellyfish, for example, when we are scuba diving, they are for the most part herbivores and feast on seagrass and rooted algae. At the Salt Pier and at Lac Cai, large fields of seagrass can be found and the Sunwise team advises its guests to look at these places, if they want to snorkel with turtles!

“Bon dia tur hende I bon bini na dushi Boneiru!
My name is Casper Douma and I am a photographer. Since 2014 I’ve been living on this beautiful island, surrounded by a fringing reef. At first glance, you may see mostly cacti and drought, but Bonaire is a little gem if you get to know it better. I would like to take you on one of my photography tours to show you all the special places of Bonaire. In small groups of maximum 4 people I give you a unique look at the beauty of Bonaire. Became curious? Take a look at my website! I wish you a lot of fun on beautiful Bonaire.”
