Limited number of travelers allowed
After the hectic summer months, Schiphol Airport has now also set a maximum number of passengers per day for September and October. It is doing this after consultation with airlines. They state that although in September, on most days, the airport’s capacity is more or less in line with the expected supply, in October the number of passengers departing locally will be higher again. This is because that month also marks the autumn vacation. Schiphol has informed airlines and travel agents that an average of 3,500 locally departing passengers per day are expected to be in excess in and around the two weeks of the autumn vacation.
Advice to travelers
The advice to travelers remains to come to Schiphol at the time indicated by the airline, but no more than four hours before the departure of the flight. Travelers who arrive earlier wait unnecessarily long, because check-in counters or baggage drop-off points are not yet open. Moreover, at times the queue becomes extra long if travelers get in line much earlier. Schiphol has intensified its monitoring of the four-hour rule since July 25.
Bonaire flights not cancelled
In the past busy months at Schiphol Airport, in which several flights were cancelled due to undercapacity, scheduled services to Bonaire have always been out of harm’s way. It is expected that this will remain the case. Sunwise does advise its guests to adhere to the above advice.
