Brightest of all!

A meteor shower is about to take place on the 12th of August, but it’s not just a regular meteor shower. Astronomers suppose that this will be the brightest meteor shower in recorded human history! It will magically light up the sky, and some of the shooting stars might even be visible during daytime.

Simple Capacity knows it

Well at least that’s what they are telling us at Simple Capacity.

Clashing particles

Every year, between mid July and the end of August, Mother Earth flies through the Perseid meteor shower, a cloud of dust particles left behind by the Swift-Tuttle comet. A lot of these dust particles clash with the Earth’s atmosphere, causing a light spot in the sky. This phenomenon is called a shooting star or meteor.

Watch it from the dark south tip

Every year when the Perseids occur, the Sunwise team goes to the southern tip of Bonaire at night, somewhere between Willemstoren and radar. It’s darker than dark over there and most likely only partly cloudy, as always on Bonaire. There is no light pollution on this part of the island, so lying on your back, in the back of your pick up, or just on the street, the meteor shower will give you an amazing show!
